In the madness, you have to find calm.” –Lupita Nyong’o
—JUST CAME TO MIND (MIGHT HELP YOU)—
A few months ago, I was asked during an AC (assessment center*) for a marketing apprenticeship:
(*Yep, these awkward situations where you’re tested in a group of applicants how well you’re doing teamwork, if you can work well independently, and so forth. Anyway…)
“Was bringt Sie auf die Palme?” (“What drives you nuts?”)
I probably gave the worst answer possible—though I still believe it to be true.
Well, kind of.
Here it is.
I said: “Nowadays I don’t let myself get offended easy by outside circumstances, because I can’t do much about it and if it happens I try to make the best of the situation at hand.”
Or something like this.
Now I know better.
Next time, I say: “If people waste my time.”
Time is your most valuable and most precious resource.
Many people squander it like they’ve got an infinite amount. They don’t. Unfortunately, only time will tell for these individuals. Anyhow…
I didn’t get this apprenticeship there.
But I learned. And you know what?
I got an even better one (i.e. apprenticeship opp).
And I took it. It starts in August this year.
Berlin we’re coming!
P. S. A good way not to waste your own time (as well as other people’s time)?
Make it simple.
Keep it “short ‘n sweet” like my friend Jason likes to call it. I, too, need to work on that. One of my major weaknesses right now. But, at least, I’m aware of that fact. And can improve.
Because you can’t improve what you don’t know/measure. Hmm? It isn’t easy, yet daily progress is almost always possible—no matter where you’re at and/or what you’re doing. With that said, feel free to join me in my monthly program for advanced training (if you haven’t done so already)…
…It’s also going to save you much time, energy, and money since I’ve already done the heavy lifting for you, so to speak. As you know, everything I’m sharing with you is either (a) well-researched or (b) it comes from first-hand experience. Or both.
